Dr Selaelo John Mabeba

Dr Selaelo John Mabeba is a South African academic, author and public administration scholar whose work brings together scholarship, writing and a longstanding interest in improving public institutions and the lives of communities.
Born and raised in the rural Bochum area of Limpopo, Mabeba developed an early passion for reading, writing, leadership and community development. His journey from a young writer to an established academic reflects a strong belief in education as a vehicle for personal transformation and social progress. Earlier in his career, he described himself as “a reader by day and a writer by night”, a description that captures the connection between his academic and literary pursuits.
Mabeba is a public administration scholar and researcher at the University of Limpopo, with research interests spanning public policy, local government administration, public-sector capacity building, skills development and service delivery. His academic work has examined issues including internships and skills development, financial aid in higher education, public participation and local economic development, municipal service partnerships, employee retention and municipal skills capacity.
His academic journey has been marked by continued advancement. He holds a Bachelor of Administration in Local Government and a Bachelor of Administration Honours in Public Administration, followed by a Master of Administration in Public Administration from the University of Limpopo. His doctoral research at North-West University examined the implementation of public infrastructure projects in selected local municipalities in Limpopo Province. He completed the PhD in 2024.
Dr Mabeba is also an accomplished writer. His books include The Naked Reality, and Your Ticket To Great Life, books that explore life, personal development, perseverance and the pursuit of success.
