Information Giants (Pty) Ltd, trading as Information Giants Publishers (“we”, “us”, “our”), respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your personal information when you use https://www.informationgiants.co.za/, buy from our online bookstore, use our publishing, editing and communication services, or talk to our website assistant. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number and postal or delivery address.
- Account details: username, password (stored in encrypted form) and order history if you create an account.
- Order details: products bought, amounts, delivery information and invoices. Card and bank details are entered on our payment provider’s secure page; we do not see or store your full card number.
- Project information: manuscripts, research, documents, images and briefs you send us for publishing, editing, design or communications work.
- Enquiries: messages you send through our contact forms, email, WhatsApp or the website assistant.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected through cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis

4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed, with:
- payment service providers that process your payments;
- courier and postal services that deliver your orders;
- our web hosting provider and IT, email and software service providers;
- printers and other suppliers working on your publishing project, only as far as the project requires;
- analytics providers, only if you accepted analytics cookies;
- professional advisers, auditors, and authorities where the law requires it.
Our service providers (operators) must keep your information confidential and secure under written agreements, as section 21 of POPIA requires.
5. Information sent outside South Africa
Some service providers (for example email, analytics or cloud software) may store information on servers outside South Africa. We only allow this where section 72 of POPIA is met, for example where the recipient is bound by laws or agreements that give protection substantially similar to POPIA, or where you consent.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. For example, financial and tax records are kept for at least five years under the Tax Administration Act. Manuscripts and project files are kept for the duration of the project and a reasonable period afterwards so that reprints and corrections are possible, unless you ask us to delete them. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access controls, strong passwords, software updates, secure payment pages and regular backups. If we believe your information has been accessed without authorisation, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as section 22 of POPIA requires.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it;
- ask us to correct, update or delete inaccurate, out-of-date or unlawfully obtained information;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to direct marketing at any time;
- withdraw consent you have given, without affecting processing done before you withdrew it;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

9. Direct marketing
We send newsletters and promotional messages only to people who have opted in, or to existing customers about similar products and services, as section 69 of POPIA allows. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe.
10. Children
Our website is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. Young authors may work with us with a parent or guardian’s consent.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
