These terms and conditions apply to your use of https://www.informationgiants.co.za/, purchases from our online bookstore, and the publishing, editing, printing and communication services of Information Giants (Pty) Ltd. By using the website or placing an order, you agree to these terms. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act).

2. Using the website

You agree not to misuse the website, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, introducing malicious code, or using it for unlawful purposes. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

3. Online bookstore

Prices and payment

Prices are in South African rand and include VAT where applicable. Delivery costs are shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is processed by third-party payment providers using secure, encrypted pages. We may correct obvious pricing errors; if this happens we will contact you, and you may cancel for a full refund.

Orders

An order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. We may decline an order, for example if stock is unavailable, in which case any payment is refunded in full.

eBooks and digital products

Digital products are licensed for your personal use. You may not copy, share, resell or distribute them.

4. Publishing, editing and communication services

  • Quotations: services are provided according to a written quotation or agreement, which sets out the scope, price, timelines and payment terms. Quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
  • Deposits: work begins once any deposit stated in the quotation is received.
  • Approvals: you will be asked to approve proofs (for example edited manuscripts, cover designs and print proofs). Changes after approval may be charged separately.
  • Your content: you confirm that material you give us is your own or that you have permission to use it, and that it is not defamatory or unlawful. You remain responsible for the content of your work.
  • Ownership: authors keep copyright in their manuscripts unless a written agreement says otherwise. We keep copyright in our own templates, tools and working files until payment is received in full, after which final approved files are licensed or transferred as set out in your agreement.
  • Timelines: we work to agreed deadlines. Delays caused by late feedback, late payment or events outside our control may move delivery dates.
  • Cancellation: you may cancel a service agreement as allowed by the CPA. We may charge a reasonable cancellation fee for work already done and costs already incurred.

5. Intellectual property

The content of this website, including text, graphics, logos and design, belongs to Information Giants (Pty) Ltd or its licensors. See our Copyright Notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the website or our services. Our total liability for any claim relating to a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service. This clause does not limit liability that cannot be excluded under the CPA, including for gross negligence.

7. Privacy

We process personal information according to our Privacy Policy and POPIA Compliance page.

8. Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve any complaint. You may also approach the National Consumer Commission or another competent authority.

We may update these terms. The version on the website at the time of your order applies to that order.
