Pontsho Mabotja-Sishi

Pontsho is an Intellectual Property (IP) professional and aspiring patent attorney whose expertise spans trademarks, copyright law and, primarily, patent law. She brings together a strong scientific background and legal training to advance the protection of innovation and intellectual property.
Born and raised in Moletjie Ga-Mabotja, Limpopo, Pontsho holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology (Biochemistry and Microbiology) from the University of Limpopo, a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law from Stellenbosch University, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of South Africa.
Her pursuit of knowledge has extended beyond South Africa. She has participated in international academic programmes at Harvard Law School in Massachusetts, United States of America, as well as Xiamen University and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in China. She has also earned more than 10 certificates from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Her achievements include receiving the prestigious Lex-Falcon Award in New Delhi, India, in the category of “Best Rising Star in Intellectual Property Law”, recognising her emerging contribution to the field.
Pontsho’s journey represents a distinctive intersection of science, law and innovation. By combining her scientific understanding with legal expertise, she is positioning herself to contribute meaningfully to the protection of intellectual property and the advancement of innovative ideas.
